The newspapers loved this photo; I wish I could come up with another idea so remarkable. It coincided with the taping of my "Nation of Criminals" video.
The first taping of that show in 1996 was a disaster, and I'm still not  convinced that the liberal kids I hired to do the camera work didn't sabotage the whole thing out of political malice. This was also the show that included that darn "Flag Bit," which cost me a lot of work. The cancellations started coming in about the same time as I started putting together a second taping, so I didn't have the cash to re-shoot. No Free Lunch Distributors came to the rescue, but not soon enough to capture the act with the dreadlocks. When my dad became gravely ill  in '98, I cut my hair for him. I still saved the things in a plastic vegetable bag, but weaving them back in just to shoot the video seemed a little like cheating.
